History

“Almond Garden has been a part of our family since 1967 when my father, Robert McMullen, and his brother–in-law, Lindsey Greenplate, became interested in purchasing property in the Caribbean.
After several trips to the islands and a series of conversations with local people in St. Kitts and Nevis, beachfront property was purchased.  Our locally crafted stone cottage was completed by the summer of 1969 and a second home in 1971.
The name Almond Garden was chosen for the property by my mother, Betty McMullen and her sister, Margery Greenplate, due to the abundance of almond trees that were growing in the vicinity. The second home was eventually sold in 1980.   Following my father’s retirement, my parents enjoyed winters on Almond Garden for 13 years.  My mother still spends part of each winter enjoying the 84 degree water and tropical climate.  Almond Garden today consists of four beachfront acres with our original 2 bedroom/2bath stone cottage.  We have recently completed a comprehensive renovation.
We look forward to the opportunity to share with you our home away from home in the Caribbean.”
